Selecting the right Group Based Health Plan can be complicated.  We’ve tried to make it easier by providing numerous tools to help you decide.

Group Health Insurance is available on a guarantee to issue basis in every state per health reform laws that were passed in 1996. (*HIPAA) Although plans are available, pricing can vary by as much as 5x depending on your group size and State of primary operation. In Illinois the maximum load factor is 67%. In Indiana it is 85%.   Not all carriers underwrite identically.

Small groups (less than 50 employees) are finding huge increases in premium for the year 2000. The headlines in the papers are saying 8-10% medical inflation, but legislative action, increased utilization and rising drug costs are sending plans for small employers up far more.   Here we will post the average increase of PPO’s and HMO’s that we are seeing in our area.
